Fonts Used In Logos of Popular Websites
This roundup was gathered through a combination of top notch Google-ing and What the Font?-ing. Midway through my travels across the internet, I stumbled upon a Web 2.0 logo font roundup, which is worth a look as well.

Wow! Great find. Just curious, how did you find out which fonts they use?
I’m guessing the facebook and Basecamp fonts are going to become extremely popular among designers soon.

Awesome summary! On thing though: The font used in the Twitter-Logo is also either modified or “Close Match”. The “e” looks completely different.

I particularly like Neo Sans Medium and Helvetica Rounded Bold (although I shouldn’t, it’s unnatural!).
Some of these fonts seem to be incorrect when you inspect them closely. They may be modified, but most are also just based on the letters in the logo (as with the Engadget font) and not the actual font used to create the logo.
It’s always fun to find and identify new fonts, though!

The Bebo font doesn’t look like Neuropol at all…

I tactfully placed a (Modified) disclaimer next to the Neuropol font. And actually I will disagree with you as far as it not looking anything like Bebo. Bebo used a custom version – Bebo Neuropol – to make the font, which has not been released commercially.

Revealing the font used on each popular logo website is kindda interesting to follow, either it was modified or just plain used. Inspiring every designer to develop a typography logo in a smarter way

I have heard from twitter that their font is custom made and not Pico. However, Pico is a very close match.

You’re going to have to elaborate, if you’re referring to the fact that the images above are .jpg then you are bringing up a matter of choice, both of which are socially acceptable.

Great job with this post – thanks for taking the time to do the research for it! It’s actually pretty amazing seeing that the logos that seem almost legendary aren’t using any fancy fonts – just tweaked a bit.

Can typography enthusiasts see a font and instantly recognize it? I’m curious. I can recognize Comic Sans MS, and… that’s about it. And the only reason that I recognize Comic Sans, is because I find it so annoying.

It is very interesting to see which of these companies modifies the font or just uses the plain font out of the box. Either way, they have all incorporated the fonts beautifully!
